Celebrity cruise lines was founded in 1988 and in in 1997 it merged with Royal Carribean International. The company headquarters is located in Miami, Florida. All their ships have the signature 'X' located on their funnel.
Celebrity cruise ships are rated amongst the best in the world with a relatively new fleet of ships and are the standard that other cruise operators try to meet. They currently operate 10 ships, each named beggining with 'Celebrity'.

Onboard Celebrity Cruise Lines
Quite confusingly, the celebrity cruise lines staterooms are not standardized accross the fleet and they will have different names depending upon which ship you choose. However the basic ones are:
Suite - These are generally expensive and will include a seperate bedroom and seating area.
Veranda - Varanda's are smaller than a suite but still have a seperate area to sit down in and a balcony.
Ocean view - An ocean view room is basically a cabin without a balcony but still with a porthole to look out of.
Inside - An inside room, as the name suggests, is an inside stateroom without any windows. These are the cheapest rooms on the ship but are still very nice compared to some other cruise lines.
Each set of room types is then broken down into further categories, each with a different name and varying prices.
Whichever stateroom you choose they are all decorated to a high standard and are exceptionally clean.
Activities onboard
Whatever you are looking for there will be an activity for you onboard a celebrity cruise. There are activities for all ages from art auctions to casino's and bars. Each ship has different facilities but each one is packed with entertainment and things to do. There are lounges, bars and excelent fully featured spa facilities on each ship.
Kids onboard
Celebrity cruises have something called the celebrity X-Club youth program. As you read its title it probably conjours up the wrong image, it sound sterile and almost like a young persons correctional program. It isn't. Its a great club for children aged 3 to 17 with masses of things for them to do. Fun Factory for ages 3-11 and Teen Entertainment for ages 12-17. Each one is custom designed for the age group and the name really doesn't do it justice. Adults can join in the family fun with Karaoke, Family discos and much much more.
