Royal Caribbean Cruises, Legend of the Seas, Caribbean
The food and service were excellent. The happy staff could not do enough for you. The outside cabins were of a very good size. Bedding was changed regularly and of course towels replaced immediately they were used once. Although this ship is over 12 years old, it is still in good order due to ongoing refurbishment. The Centrum is particularly beautiful as is the two-tier dining room. For this particular cruise to the Caribbean Day time and evening activities are aimed at Spanish Speaking and English speaking guests, with annoucements in both languages.Due to our cruise being back to back, some of The evening shows were repeated, but we did have 2 new shows the second week. The Argentine Tango show was excellent - we went to see this twice. Tours are value for money - particularly the half day tour on Grendada where we visited the Spice Plantation, Rain Forst, Grand Etang Lake, the Waterfalls and the Fort. On the down side, because this cruise is going from the Dominican Republic and no expensive air fare is paid, the majority of the guests are spanish speaking with British and American Guests in the minority. I was also led to believe that Royal Caribbean were offering free child places and we were surprised by the number of spanish speaking children onboard during school time. I do not wish to be insulting when I say "on the down side". Because of their culture the spanish speaking guests do tend to gather in large groups, speak loudly all at the same time and often took over the jacuzzis for hours on end. Some children were left unsupervised during the day and evening and were messing around with lifts. What was particularly upsetting was the fact that at night in the library/board game room, spanish speaking children mis-used games, climbed on chairs and tables and threw chess pieces and other games around the room, etc. There was no supervision of this room. As we like to play cards after the show this was particularly disappointing. The latter problems spoiled what could have been an excllent all round cruise. I understand that the problems we encountered only happend on RCI 7 day cruises around the Caribbean and that during other itineraries life aboard was very different.
