Celebrity Cruises, Millenium, Alaska

Having read many reviews and researched many ships before booking our holiday, we decided on the Millenium for our maiden voyage. I think our researched paid off very well because everything was as good if not better than expected. We paid a little extra for Concierge class and we believe it was worth it. A very comfortable cabin which was kept very clean & tidy by the room attendant. A balcony which we had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast on one sunny day. Room service was effecient, both times 15 minutes early than our ordered time (a minor complaint if you can call it that!). The ship looked fresh and clean all over (not tired as I have read elswhere). The staff can only be described as friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Food in all the restaurants was very good. Plenty of different choices, well thought out and varied menus, all cooked very well. The Ocean grill can get very crowded on days at sea, but you can always find somewhere to eat. The treatments we had at the Spa were excellent, just look in the daily newsletter for special daily offers, otherwise they are a bit expensive. We went on 2 excursions which we found to be well organised and good value for money. The helicopter trip to the glaciers was amazing and well worth doing. One disappointing aspect was the small towns in Alaska have been spoilt by the intrusion of so many jewellery stores catering for cruise passengers. Overall a top class cruise which was good value for money and we would not hesitate in recommending it to anyone.
